FABA 2014: International Symposium on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great honor and pleasure to welcome you all to the "FABA 2014: International Symposium on Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences" organized by the Central Fisheries Research Institute (CFRI) which will be held in Trabzon, Turkey from September 25 to 27, 2014. The first meeting of FABA was realised in 2003 and the last one was held in 2013 in various universities in Turkey.
The symposium will focus on the theme "Marine and Inland Biodiversity: Interactions with Fisheries and Aquatic Environments" and have the following topics: Fisheries Biology and Management, Aquaculture, Hydrobiology, Fish Diseases, Seafood Processing Technology, Biotechnology and Genetics, Invasive Species, Global Warming and Fisheries, Water Quality and Pollution, Fisheries Socio-economics.

It is well recognized that fisheries and aquaculture play an important role in sustaining food security and supporting the income. Turkey is leading country in Europe and the Black Sea for fisheries and aquaculture. However, rapid increase of world population as well as deterioration of the environment and overexploitation has depleted fishery resources throughout the region.  As demands for fish continue to grow, aquaculture production must increase to maintain the availability of seafood supply and to reduce fishing pressure to extend especially endemic and especially omnivore and herbivore fish species.

The conference will bring together leading researchers, engineers and scientists in the domain of interest from around the world.

Selected papers of FABA 2014 will be published in Turkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (TrJFAS) published by CFRI. TrJFAS is a refereed academic journal and accepted to SCI Expanded List.
It will be a great honour for us to host you in Trabzon; the greatest city with combination of sea and forests together.

With wish to have a faithful!
